What is the best way to hide old self harm scars?

I have some scars on my arm from when I used to self harm.

They are between 6 months and 2 years old and all of them are healed but the scars are really annoying and make me feel really self-conscious.

Anybody know any way I can hide them? What is the best way to hide old self harm scars?
I have some really deep scars on my upper right arm

Like, so deep that if people knew about them, I would have had to have stitches, and one of them was so bad it bled for weeks and weeks after it was inflicted, becuase the wound just wouldn't close up on it's own.

And after it healed, I was left with a disgusting, long pink scar across my arm, and I tried to put foundation on it, and it still showed through.

Then I tried Bio-oil, and I use it every night, and the scar has faded dramatically now. It's still there, obviously, but it is so much less visable now, and I've only been using the Bio-oil for about 4weeks.

You can get it at any store that sells skincare products, and it is most likley to be found in Superdrug and Boots. You are supposed to rub it in to the affected area at least twice a day, and let it sink in. It can also be used for dry skin or stretchmarks anywhere on the body, including the face.

Hope This helps. What is the best way to hide old self harm scars?
Hmmm... I tried bio-oil, but if anything, it made them more visible... Report Abuse

it really depense on where they are. if there on your rist, you could wear arm warmers. i wear them all the time, and they are awsome. Report Abuse

if they are on your wrist, try wrist bands. they are really trendy and hide them... no one would really notice ur hiding something.
Short of laser surgery, I don't know what you can do. Some say rubbing vitamin E oil into the scar helps minimize the scarring. The scars will fade as you get older though.
i have various scars from acne ones to being naturally accident-prone. use Mederma, its made to fade scars. i've been using it for 2 years now. it's $14 at a drugstore. it takes some time, but it works. i've had scars from bug bites, scrapes, cuts, etc. and most have faded. i use it every night and morning. on my face, under makeup.
Long sleeved shirts
Well long sleeve shirts, but you could also buy a scar cream to make them less visable
use a very light concealer(preferrably the stick kind because I noticed that it lasts longer), jackets, or if it doesn't covor your whole arm, buy those thick bands/bracelets from hot topic or something. And DON'T HARM YOURSELF AGAIN!
when i was little, i had to get a surgery, and was always self conscious about the scars, but i got this....stuff called ';scar guard'; and you basically just ';paint'; this liquid on, and it lightens the scars. my scars are now practically gone.

good luck!

p.s- im glad you stopped. always live life to the fullest.
Mederma works wonders. Stri-Vectin is the best, but it is kinda pricey. You can find it at Costco every once in a while. I would say those are your best bets. Sometimes tanning helps camoflauge the scars, but it depends on the scar and your skin type. If all else fails you can always tattoo over them, thats what I did! Good Luck!
foundation for now but use bio-oil it works wonders

but you have to use it for about 3 months to see a difference...

its worth the wait..x

:)
chunky bracelets, wrist sleeves, kinda trendy and cool or a little bit of foundation and powder...hope you don't harm yourself anymore, life's too short to be doing that...good luck!
how about some nice life affirming tattoos?

Something that makes you feel good.

Otherwise a cosmetic surgeon might have to give you a hand.
