What would cause a young child to have long incision scars in the backs of both of her legs?

I saw a little girl today who had long scars in the middle of both legs, going up the back. I was curious as to if this was due to some kind of surgery. What medical procedure would cause the surgeon to have to slice up the back of someones legs, especially someone younger than 6?What would cause a young child to have long incision scars in the backs of both of her legs?
there is this decease called nemaline and muscles in the legs are very short and tight and the child cannot put his foot flat on the ground and sometimes they go in and stretch the muscles and make them longer so the child can put her foot flat on the ground and not walk on her tip toes What would cause a young child to have long incision scars in the backs of both of her legs?
She may of been born with abnormal legs so had to have bones reset.

My son had club feet (turned in feet) and had to have his feet operated on to reset his bones.

Hope this is helpful.
Could have been some type of orthopedic (bone) correction or sometimes the heart surgeons remove replacement veins from the legs to replace defective ones around the heart...
surgery.

i have a scar from ankle to groing from heart surgery. told me would have to use both legs but got away with only the one.
